Richland, Washington—

Firefighters Cycling uses our Elite team program to spread the word about professional rescuers suffering chronic to terminal illnesses, with the most visible group being the professionals who worked rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero, butFirst Responders everywhere are at risk for health issues that don’t go away.

Firefighters Cycling offers a racing program that while short on amenities is long on opportunity, with a race calendar covering many North and South American UCI events (Vuelta Mexico, etc.) as well as NRC Stage Races and select National Criterium Calendar Races.

Firefighters Cycling p/b Advocare made the most of opportunities offered last season with top 10 stage and category placing’s in all but one UCI race we were invited to including winning the climbers jersey at Thompson-Bucks County (formerly Univest GP), 10th on GC as Vuelta Independencia National in the Dominican and 10th in the Best Young Rider Competition at Vuelta a Mexico.

A major focus of our program is graduating riders to established programs such as California Giant Berry, and 5-Hour Energy p/bKenda Pro Cycling,

2012 UCI squad member Christian Parrett explains what the program is to him, “It’s a team for the 20 year old who didn’t get a ride in the National Team. It’s a team for the 25 year old, or in my case 22 year old, who needs a second chance. It’s a team for the riders who are smart enough to look beyond American Criteriums or amateur teams with fancy bikes. It’s a team for the riders with enough heart to race clean against former Euro-Pros in the middle of doping trials.”

The 2013 season has been made possible due to the gracious support of our sponsors; Jakroo, microSHIFT, Kenda, iRTWheels, Advocare, Wahlström Custom Apparel Design, Rudy Project, Albabici, Selle SMP, Thomson, PerformTex, Tete delaCourse Coaching, Allegro Cyclery, and local District sponsors across the US.

Returning riders to the team for this season are Rider/DS Leo Frayre a career firefighter/paramedic with Dallas Fire Rescue, former Florida Elite Series Champion Garrett White, multi-time Mexican National Championships Medalist Armando Pagaza, along with 2012 UCI Squad members Coulton Hartrich (top Amateur 2012 Nature Valley Grand Prix) and Former Mexican National Champion Victor Ayala for UCI events only.

New riders joining the team for the 2013 season are Nate King(Competitive Cyclist), Sergio Zamudio Rocha (Canel’s Turbo),Iggy Silva (Wonderful Pistachio), Barry Miller (Pure Energy Cycling-ProAirHFA), and former Professional and 8 time National Champion Jack Benoit who moves from our Master’s Program to the Elite squad as a mentor/rider.

The addition of former Professionals Iggy Silva, Nate King and Jack Benoit along with Young Rider top 10 (Vuelta Mexico)Sergio Rocha and set up man Barry Miller we are set to improve upon our UCI record from 2012.

Our UCI squad includes two non-roster members who continue over from 2012. Coulton Hartrich brings a proven GC rider, along with consummate professional Victor Ayala who brings a wealth of knowledge on the road to mentor our younger riders.
