Colavita/Fine Cooking Women’s Pro Cycling Team Completes Winter Training Camp
Former US National Criterium Champion Tina Pic Leads by Example
Borrego Springs, CA (March 8, 2013) — California’s Secret Desert provided ideal conditions for the Colavita/Fine Cooking Women’s Pro Cycling Team to train for its 10th season in the pro peloton.
“Breathtaking scenery and strong winds were our constant companions,” said Directeur Sportif Iona Wynter Parks. “We put in a lot of miles and I am very pleased with what we accomplished.”
With former US National Criterium Champion Tina Pic at the front of the paceline, the Colavita/Fine Cooking pros worked on fundamentals like leadouts and motor pacing for speedwork. Pic also coached her teammates on tactics for specific situations such as caravan riding for stage races and steep, multi-mile descents. “Tackling hills and corners at high speeds can be challenging,” said Pic. “But there are techniques and adjustments that I count on to stay in good position and maintain control.”
“Off the bikes, we focused on nutrition, hydration, and recovery,” Wynter Parks continued. “With Colavita olive oil and Fine Cooking magazine as our title sponsors, we enjoyed using our teamwork skills to prepare delicious and healthful meals.” In addition,
Colavita/Fine Cooking manager Dan Coleman briefed the riders on electronic shifting and other technical issues to achieve maximum performance on their Jamis Xenith SL road and Xenith T2 time trial bikes.
The Colavita/Fine Cooking Women’s Pro Cycling Team will kick off the season at the Delray Beach Twilight Criterium on March 23rd. Roster details will be announced shortly. For more information, visit www.TeamColavita.com.
