|Mixed Team Sprint Race Recap:
Team USA qualified 3rd and race in the bronze medal round against the Czech Republic. I was man 1 so it was my job to be all business and came out of the blocks like a rock star. My first lap sets the pace for team USA to build on. I timed the gate right and rode as hard as I could and pulled off in my exchange zone seeing that we were ahead! I was riding above the blue line watching Sam pull his lap giving us a bigger lead and then pulling off for Joe finish the last lap. I could hear the crowds screaming it was just amazing to hear gun go off knowing that Joe had crossed the line first we had won the bronze medal! What blows my mind is just how much has come together in such a short time and at the right time we were able to time each other’s speed and make the exchanges. Team USA made the podium at the Paralympic games in the mixed team sprint!
The team sprint was an amazing experience. I’m so honored to been a part of such a great team at the Paralympic Games. The mixed team sprint at the Paralympics is like the Olympic men’s team sprint expect for it is a combination of different disability and for the first time Paralympic games it could include women. The different abilities make the exchanges very challenging. For team USA we had our strongest rider Sam in position 2, I had a faster first lap than Joe but Joe had a faster 3rd lap than me. The key was for me to have great start in position 1 and for Joe riding position 3 to grab Sam wheel for Team USA to be successful and we did it! We won the bronze medal at the Paralympic Games
