Our goal was to keep the race together for a sprint for Theresa Cliff-Ryan. About 40 minutes into the race a break formed, which I was in. I was able to sit on, while my teammates controlled the gap from behind. The girls did an amazing job to control the gap and catch with only 1.5 laps to go. Since my teammates had been working hard (and I had been sitting on the break), I knew I owed it to them to continue the lead-out once they caught us. I jumped as soon as the girls caught my break, a NOW rider attacked at the same time. I jumped on her wheel, and then Alison Powers attacked into the first turn on the bell lap. I covered her attack, and then turned to see where Theresa was. Just before the last turn, I realized Alison and I had a big gap on the field and then it clicked that I was going to have to sprint. I tried to channel Theresa when I came around for the win. The team did such an awesome job working together to control the race, I’m just happy I was able to pay them back. It was very special to win in front of the hometown crowd and our sponsor, Exergy Development Group.
