Pua comes from a little Island in the Pacific Ocean called Oahu. In 2003 she moved to California and met her now husband Ron and started mountain biking. Focusing mostly on endurance racing Pua rose to the top of the sport quickly, winning 6 National titles in only 5 years. In 2008 Pua jumped in on the XC scene for training and was able to place 5th overall in the NMBS (National Mountain Bike Series), she really enjoyed the competition as well as the shorter distance and plans on focusing more on XC racing this year and into the future.
One year ago Pua started a kids racing team called Team Mata Keikis, which means kid in Hawaiian, these kids are great ambassadors of the sport and she has a blast helping them with their racing. This year Pua also started helping to coach her local high school Mountain bike team (Yucaipa High) which is part of the newly formed So-Cal interscholastic cycling league.
Pua’s new favorite pass time is hanging out with her dog Koa and strumming her acoustic guitar.
