When I first started to ride, I rode in a T-Shirt and shorts. I very rapidly discovered the need for bicycle shorts, and man, did my sore butt thank me.
But if your loved one is already an avid cyclist, he or she already has bike shorts. Trying to guess which, out of the hundreds of options, would be one that she or he liked would be like picking a needle out of the proverbial hay stack.
Not to worry. I’ve got a gift that, while some cyclists may already have some form of, they probably haven’t found yet. Here it is:
This little bag goes on the top tube of your bike. Now, what’s so special about that, you might ask. Plenty of people probably already have one of these. However, the difference with this bag is that you can use a smartphone through the plastic, without having to take the phone completely out. It also has a large storage area, as well as a sturdy, secured method of attaching your phone.
Previously, when I was biking through towns that I didn’t know very well, I’d have to stop every few miles, grab my cell phone from a jersey pocket, load up my navigation app, wait for the GPS to connect, find where I was, and then continue on from there.
Now, I can use this bag to just leave up the google maps navigation (sorry iPhone users – no biking directions for you yet), and get to where I’m going with a minimum of fuss.
My sister got this bag for me as a thank you for helping pick out her bike. Definitely one of the best things I’ve added to the stock bike load out.
