Trek Factory Racing welcomes 2nd World Champion to its triathlon program
(Waterloo, WI) — Trek Factory Racing is proud to announce that one of the most talented athletes in triathlon, Holly Lawrence (GBR), is joining the team’s roster for 2017. Holly will focus on the 70.3 distance, defending her 70.3 World Championship title, and competing in other iconic events such as the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, which she won in 2016.
Holly came to triathlon from an exceptionally talented family. As a triplet, she’s accustomed to being competitive in every aspect of life. Although her siblings rivaled her ability in the early days of their respective athletic careers, Holly’s hard work, determination, and passion for sport brought her to the zenith of triathlon. Holly won her first world title in September 2016, taking the lead early in the race and maintaining her breakaway to dominate the world’s leading female triathletes in an unforgettable breakout performance.
Holly lives and trains in Santa Monica, California, where she’s able to practice her trade in near perfect conditions year-round. Even as a serious competitor, Holly brings a fantastic levity to the sport and is well-known for her bright and bubbly personality. Pre-race hugs are an essential source of energy for Holly, and she’s always happy to share them with competitors professional and amateur alike. Her athleticism and engaging personality bolsters an already potent repertoire of athletes for Trek Factory Racing.
Joining Holly on Trek Factory Racing triathlon for 2017 will be Ironman 70.3 World Champion Tim Reed, Ironman Worlds podium finisher Tim O’Donnell, American record holder Lindsey Corbin, American Lauren Goss, and Olympic ITU athlete Ben Kanute.
Lawrence is excited to join this dynamic group of athletes, noting their influence in her decision to race with Trek: “I am beyond excited to be joining Trek Factory Racing! I’ve been in a very fortunate position after winning the Ironman 70.3 world title in Australia back in September 2016, with interest from a range of great companies. My discussions with fellow World Champion and Trek athlete Tim Reed confirmed that Trek Factory Racing leads the way in performance, development, and support for their athletes. At Trek’s headquarters in Waterloo, Wisconsin, I saw a company that treats its employees and sponsored athletes like family. I am excited for what lies ahead as part of the Trek team, and I’m confident that they have the passion and drive to make me the fastest I can be on a bike.”
